Casterland Calgary was founded in 1975, and began as a spinoff of a bearing house. At that time, the mastermind behind the business was John Digney, now retired. John was very creative in his approach to the caster business; he was often able to capture a person's keen interest with a "fun" sort of advertising, which always reinforced Casterland's "personal image". He continually encouraged "company, employee, and customer relations" and stressed overall "business integrity". He was, and still is a very popular and dedicated individual, who has proven to be an invaluable mentor to those who carry on the caster legacy.
Reid Wheel and Caster Ltd. started up in Winnipeg in 1977, when Brian and Anne Reid recognized the need for a caster house to service Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The couple have always been a perfect compliment, with Brian running the business side and Anne managing the administration. They have experienced steady growth and success as a result of their many years of hard work and dedication. In 2001, their two daughters, Christine and Cindy, joined them in their dedicated efforts.
In 1993, Brian and Anne began a new association with Casterland Calgary. As a result, in 1997 they adopted the trade name "Casterland" for use on all future promotional materials. Casterland Calgary is currently being managed by Brian Reid. In September of 2004, the Calgary shop moved
back to 4th Street, a bit south of the original 4th Street location. This new shop boasts over 12,000 square feet of showroom!
In 1997, the Reid Wheel and Caster company in Winnipeg became known as ‘Casterland Winnipeg’. This location is currently being managed by Randy Giesbrecht.
Somewhere along the way, with the urging of Rob Flack, Specialty Tire was developed as a further division of Casterland Winnipeg. Casterland was now able to further its product offering to include many types of tires, rims, axles, and accessories. Specialty Tire is currently being managed by Paul Reid.
In July of 1997, Coastal Wheels Limited (Vancouver) was established and Incorporated. Hard work and dedication on the part of Marlin Schmidt and Randy Bach, along with guidance from Brian and Anne, and funding from the other Casterland branches have resulted in yet another success story.
In January of 2001, Casterland Edmonton opened its doors, again under the direction of Brian and Anne, managed by Dave Cleugh. Changes came effective January 1, 2003 with Marshall Paxton joining the ownership group and bringing a different perspective to the team. MC Wheels Ltd. is the newest member of the Casterland family.
In 2001, Randy Giesbrecht was appointed Regional Sales Manager of all four Casterland locations. Along with his dynamic management team, Randy is in the
process of creating a greater awareness of "company, employee, and customer relations" and helping us to re-connect with the "personal image" that was initiated by John Digney at the birth of the company, so many years ago.
Casterland management and staff continually strive to achieve and maintain the goal of providing quality products at competitive prices, with an on-going commitment to excellent customer service.
